Retro models are reintroduced into the present day with the Porsche 911 Sports Classic.

The 2022 Porsche 911 is the latest 911 model in Porsche’s Heritage Design Edition collection. It is a tribute to the classic 1960s-70s era Porsche, as it is inspired by the first 911 and the 911 Carrera RS 2.7. This limited-edition Porsche version is now available for purchase should Porsche fans are interested. It will be on sale in the United States for the 2023 model year, but only 1,250 copies will be available worldwide.

Those familiar with Porsche’s track record will be fans of this stunning model. It’s the second model in Porsche’s Heritage Design Edition that first was launched in 2020, with the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. The Sports Classic combines many features from a variety of Porsches into one. It comes with the 911 Turbo S’s broad body (without side air intakes for the rear fenders), the 911 Carrera RS 2.7’s iconic ducktail, as well as the 911 Turbo S’s very first 911 (997-gen).

The Sports Classic is available in four colors that include Sport Grey Metallic Agate Grey Metallic Gentian Blue Metallic and Black. Light Sport Grey will be available with the lollipop, side letters, as well as double racing stripes. They can be paired with any color choice. Exterior highlights include a 1963 Crest and a Heritage Design plaque. Logos on the rear are gold-colored. 911 Sports Classic owners can purchase a Porsche Design titanium watch to complement their vehicle in case this isn’t quite enough luxury.

“This unique method is based on the Style Porsche design department working with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to reinvent the most iconic 911 models and other equipment from the 1950s to the 1980s and also to revive the design elements of those years,” said Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Individualization and Classic.

The retro appearance is offset by modern amenities and enhanced performance. The 2022 model has the same flat-six twin-turbo engine that is used in the 911 Turbo models (543 horsepower and 442 Lb.-ft. torque) However, it has a seven-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the updated engine mapping allows the output to work with the new transmission. This makes the 911 the most powerful 911 available today.

This sports car can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in only 4.1 seconds. The sleek exterior and two-toned interior are enhanced by the Pepita leather upholstery. Porsche’s Heritage Design Edition collection has all the features that the Sports Classic has. A flawless specimen that only left one question unanswered: what starting number will you select to put on the side?
